Základní škola Fr. Plamínkové is a state school specializing in language education. The school is located close to the city centre. The school is for pupils from 1st to 9th grade, there are 442  pupils in total.  School uniforms have been introduced from the 1st to the 4th grade.

Majority of the extra lessons which Framework Education Programme allows school to use with respect to their specialization, are used for extra language lessons. The pupils start studying English in the 1st grade – 2 lessons a week in the 1st and the 2nd grade, 4 lessons a week from the 3rd grade up – and start the second foreign language – 3 lessons a week – in the 6th grade (French, Spanish, German). The school does not run a bilingual programme but has integrated CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) into its School Education Programme – arts and crafts in the 5th grade, Music from 6th to 9th grade, World of Business in the 8th grade and selective subject Media and Culture Studies are taught in English. Thanks to this the school appeals to pupils from foreign communities in Prague and also has bilingual children. However, Czech is still of paramount importance in the school.

The school also offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities – language clubs, conversation classes with native speakers, club for bilingual children, drama clubs, music clubs, dance clubs, sport clubs and many others.

It tries to offer the pupils a rich variety of project days (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Epihanie, Tartan Day, Pancake Day, Canada day etc.), it encourages them to take part in a number of local, regional and international competitions. In 2014 its pupils participated in the final round of the international EUROMATH competition in Nicosia and won the 1st prize in MATHFactor and 3rd prize in MATHeatre competitions.

The school is a partner school of Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Education. This means the school partakes in teacher training and also is a "laboratory" for research work. The pedagogical staff also attend in-service teacher training at University but also organized by other institutions of in-service training. The school's policy is the use of innovative and modern teaching approaches, use of ITC in the classroom, development of critical thinking, project work. Its policy is also good atmosphere and relationships among pupils, pupils and teachers, teachers and parents. It is a school with certificate Rodiče vítáni (Parents welcome).

The school is also a partner school of Erasmus for Students organization and hosts teachers who come to Prague on Erasmus + mobility. Many programs are currently running in the school such as DROK or Šablony which allows the teachers to educate themselves and help weaker students in extra lessons.

Since 2016 the partnership has been developed to a French school in Cholet and several exchanges has been realised. Every year the pupils travel abroad with their teachers to ameliorate their language competences and also to get to know the outer world.
Each class spends a week out of school with their class teacher to enjoy the community, to build healthy collective relationships and to learn by living any playing. Skiing camp and Cycling trips are help for the pupils of 7th and 8th grades. Our 9 graders leave the school with an experience of writing Graduate essay which allows them to focus on a selected topic into depth and present on it in public.
